Four instrumental rock/electronica tracks written by Darren Wilsey will be featured in the film The Great Outdoors: Another Perfect Season due for release in December 2004. This is a 60-minute film based on the sport of motorcross. It covers the 12 races of MX Nationals 2004. This is a direct to DVD release that will be sold in motorcross and No Fear shops nationwide.
It's officially a wrap! Today composer Darren Wilsey met with director Mitch Gavin and sound editor Jonathan Wareham (Emmy Award winner for his work on the Discovery's When Dinosaurs Ruled America ) in a Hollywood studio to put the final touches on the musical score for the film THE LOWRIDER (Hurrican Mitch Productions). The film was edited by Edward Rothkowitz, editor of the classic film The Who - The Kids Are Alright (1979). The website for the film is www.thelowrider.com
Last week Darren Wilsey wrote the music for a H.E.B (Here Everything’s Better) TV commercial. The H.E.B Grocery Company is now one of the nation's largest independently owned food retailers with stores throughout Texas and Mexico.
Five SkyTrain songs (written by Darren Wilsey and Phil Vassil) will be featured in next years "World Strongest Man" on ESPN (TWI Productions). The titles are Until Today, Insulation, Halfway to Nowhere, Just Like That, and Change My Life. We recorded these songs in New York City in December 2003.

On Friday August 27, 2004 Darren Wilsey put the final touches of the theme song for BOYSTOWN (a TV pilot that he has been writing the music for over the summer). The show?s producer (Rick Reidling) brought in a very talented vocalist from San Francisco named Julissa Aguirre to record the lead vocals (her TV music debut was appearing on the Beverly Hills 90120 soundtrack). They had lots of fun recording this song and there was ample positive energy encapsulating the session. Click HERE to listen to the track!
Darren Wilsey has been contracted to write and produce the theme song and cue music for the pilot episode of a new drama called BOYSTOWN (Reidling Productions). You can learn more about this drama on page 28 of this week's Hollywood Reporter (July 27-August 2, 2004). The show's website now streams Darren's electronic/dance tracks ("SKY").
Yamaha Motif ES7
This week Darren Wilsey added a couple of truly awesome synthesizers to his arsenal. His recording studio now proudly features the Yamaha Motif ES7 and the Korg Triton Extreme Workstation. It is safe to say that much of this year's upcoming productions will feature the technology that these monsters have to offer. Again, a very special thanks to the Yamaha Corporation of America for their generosity over the years!
During the spring of 2003 Darren Wilsey produced a four song EP for fellow song writer and musician Harvey Moon in New York City. Harvey is a very talented guy with a sound that is reminiscent of Peter Gaberial or Cat Stevens (vocally speaking). His song "The Flame" is excellent. This CD is now available at CD Baby:
In March 2004 Darren Wilsey was hired to write/produce a demo for a 13-year old vocalist named Kristi Clanton who hails from Lubbock, Texas. Her management firm (based in Los Angeles) flew her and her family out to California and recorded an EP at my Darren's home studio. The songs as well as her pictures are posted on her (recently launched) website. You might enjoy checking it out...she really has quite a voice and has several record labels making offers! On July 23 Darren Wilsey attended the NAMM convention in Nashville, Tennessee (along with good friend Dr. Alex Pevsner). Yamaha synthesizer products rule! The end of the day featured a live performance by the SPIN DOCTORS. The grand prize winners of the 2003 John Lennon Song Writing Contest were invited on stage to sing "Imagine" with the band. The Spin Doctors are really nice guys and we enjoyed hanging out with them after the show.
