Cliffhanger © 2003, D. Wilsey (ASCAP): (CBS) The second of the two works commissioned by Brian Boitano. This piece is darker and arguably more cinematic in mood. Cliffhanger will accompany Brian during his technical routine. This piece is intended to end with a feeling of something that is left unresolved. In terms of overall order, Brian will skate to Cliffhanger prior to The Persistence of Time. Hence, any sense of being unresolved gets its resolution in The Persistence of Time. Of the two works, Cliffhanger is more sophisticated with regard to orchestration. It ends with a haunting piano melody and melancholy cellos. You can see Brian perform to this music during his 2003/2004 tour or on CBS in November during the broadcast of ICE WARS 2003.
