Mixology Preview (2000)

08/02/2004

DC Rocks - Mixology Cover Darren Wilsey Producer, Musician

Mixology is the debut electronica CD by DC Rocks (a/k/a Darren Wilsey). This record fusses the rhythmic ferment of cutting edge techno and NYC club beats with the energy and girth of analog synthesizers, phat bass lines, and fuzz-ridden guitars. Wilsey sights Nine Inch Nails, The Chemical Bothers, and Prodigy as a few of his many influences during this recording project.

In 2001 Emmy award-winning film director and editor Thurston Smith approached Darren in search of electronica/cinematic music to compliment his upcoming film Silicon Alley Stories. Several tracks from Mixology served as the movie's underscore. Silicon Alley Stories went on to win BEST DOCUMENTARY in the 2001 New York International Independent Film Festival and premiered in Los Angeles in July 2001. The song "Trip" (EMI), featured on Mixology, was awarded the Grand Prize in the electronic category of the 2001 John Lennon Song Writing Contest.

Gansters (Electronic Hip Hop)

DC Rocks - Mixology Cover Darren Wilsey Producer, Musician

Mixology is the debut electronica CD from DC Rocks (a/k/a Darren Wilsey). This record fusses the rhythmic ferment of cutting edge techno and NYC club beats with the energy and girth of analog synthesizers, phat bass lines, and fuzz-ridden guitars. "Gangsters" is frequently cited as the most favored track off Mixology in that it contains elements of both dark electronica and hip-hop.

X-treme Drama Medley

Darren Wilsey Music Composer and Producer X-treme Drama CD Cover

This medley features the highlights from a collection of instrumental rock/electronica songs that I composed for a CD entitled X-treme Drama (Vol. 1 & 2). This was exciting at the time because it was one of my first publishing deals (that is, for an entire CD collection). The music from these CDs has subsequently been featured in TV shows and commercials around the world (France, Australia, Japan, Sweden, and Germany). Courtesy of Dorian Music Pub. © 2001.
